AI recruiter opt out and consent FAQs

Updated over 2 weeks ago

1. How can students opt out of communications?

Students can opt out of CollegeVine communications at any time using the following methods:

  • Email: Clicking “Unsubscribe” in the footer of any CollegeVine email.

  • SMS: Replying with keywords such as STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, or similar.

  • Phone: Verbally requesting to be unsubscribed during a phone call.

These opt-outs are channel-specific, meaning a student may choose to opt out of one communication method (e.g., SMS) but still receive others (e.g., email or phone). A global opt-out stops all communication across every channel.

Once a student opts out, CollegeVine updates the appropriate opt-out fields and can share this data with your team through:

  • A bi-directional CRM sync, or

  • A manual export/import process.

The CollegeVine-managed opt-out fields include:

  • CV email opt out

  • CV SMS opt out

  • CV phone opt out

  • CV global opt out

All of these are Boolean fields, where true means the student has opted out of that specific channel.

2. How do CollegeVine opt-outs interact with partner-tracked opt-outs?

The AI Recruiter respects both CollegeVine and partner-managed opt-out fields. These values are kept separate and are not overwritten, but both are used when determining whether a student should be contacted.

From CollegeVine to your CRM:
CollegeVine shares opt-out data through CRM sync or manual exports. You’ll need to:

  1. Create corresponding fields in your CRM.

  2. Map them so CollegeVine's data is ingested correctly.

From your CRM to CollegeVine:
You can send your own opt-out preferences to CollegeVine via a file or CRM sync. The AI recruiter will ingest these fields and update the CollegeVine specific opt out fields to match (when opt out = true).

The supported partner fields include:

  • Partner email opt out

  • Partner SMS opt out

  • Partner phone opt out

  • Partner global comms opt out

These should also be Boolean (true = opted out). You’ll need to map these fields in CollegeVine’s import interface to ensure they are honored.
