  2. Exclude in-progress courses: Current semester courses without final grades

  3. Exclude dropped courses: Courses that were started but not completed

  4. Exclude incomplete courses: Courses with pending or missing grade information

Course selection: cumulative

Cumulative Course Selection: Includes all completed courses that have gradeable scores for GPA calculation.

This selector identifies courses that can contribute to a numerical GPA by filtering for courses with measurable academic performance. It serves as the foundation for other more specific course selection methods.

  1. Include courses with letter grades (A+, A, A-, B+, B, etc.) that can be converted to numerical values

  2. Include courses with percentage grades (0-100%) that represent quantitative performance

  3. Include courses with scaled point grades that provide numerical assessment

  4. Exclude courses with pass/fail grades only, as these cannot be converted to numerical GPA values

Result: The broadest selection of academically assessable courses, representing the student's complete gradeable academic record.

Grade-Year Course Selection: Includes only courses taken in a specified grade year.

This selector filters courses based on the academic year they were taken, allowing for targeted GPA calculations for specific grade levels. It is useful for analyzing academic performance within a particular year of high school.

  1. Select courses with matching grade year: Only include courses that correspond to the specified grade year (e.g., 9th grade, 10th grade, etc.)

  2. Include all course types: Both academic and non-academic courses are included as long as they match the grade year

  3. Exclude courses without grade year information: Courses lacking grade year data are not included to ensure accuracy

  4. Include completed and incomplete courses: Both finished and in-progress courses from the specified grade year are considered

Result: A selection of courses taken during the specified grade year, providing a focused view of academic performance for that particular time period.


Course selection: incomplete

Incomplete Course Selection: Includes only courses that have not been completed.

  1. Group courses by name and grade year: Courses with identical names in the same academic year are candidates for merging

  2. Preserve courses with missing grade years: Courses without grade year information are not merged to avoid incorrect combinations

  3. For completed courses: Combine total credits and select the highest/best grade achieved

  4. For incomplete courses: Keep one representative course per unique name/year combination

  5. For mixed completed/incomplete: Merge only the completed courses, ignore incomplete duplicates

Result: A consolidated course list with merged duplicate entries, combining credits and preserving the best academic outcomes while maintaining accurate course representation.

Pass Course Selection: Includes only completed courses with a ‘pass’ grade.


Course selection: peachleaf

Peachleaf Course Selection: A hybrid approach that includes academic courses plus all AP/IB courses regardless of subject classification.

This selector recognizes that Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses represent college-level rigor and should be included in GPA calculations even when they fall outside traditional academic categories.

  1. Start with cumulative courses (all courses with gradeable scores)

  2. Include all academic courses (core subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages)

  3. Also include AP courses regardless of subject area (including AP Art, AP Music Theory, etc.)
