Missions send targeted outbound messages on email, text, and phone to move people toward a goal. You describe what you want the mission to do in plain language, pick who it reaches and how, then launch it.
For a tour of the Missions workspace and built-in reporting, see Missions workspace and reporting.
Finding your missions
Click Missions in the left sidebar, under Workspace. Every mission for your agent lives here.
Missions are grouped by status:
Active: live and sending
Paused: stopped but not finished, and can be resumed
Drafts: created but never launched
Completed: finished or past their end date
Each row shows the mission name, the launch date, who created it, and which channel it uses. Use the search box to find a mission by name, or the All types dropdown to filter by channel.
💡 If your institution used missions before, they now live here instead of under Workflows. Existing missions moved over with their history intact.
Creating a mission
From the Missions list, click Create.
In the box under What should your mission do?, describe the mission in your own words. For example, "Remind students with an open application that the deadline is approaching and what's still needed to submit it."
Click Segment to choose who the mission reaches. Search your existing segments, or click Create new segment to build one.
Choose a channel: Email, SMS, or Phone.
Click Create mission.
Once you select a segment, an Audience breakdown appears showing how many constituents are in the segment and how many are eligible for the channel you picked. These two numbers can be different, since constituents need valid contact information and recorded consent to be reachable.
💡 Collect consent before sending phone or SMS missions. Your agent automatically excludes constituents without recorded consent, which is usually why an audience is smaller than expected.
Starting from a suggestion
Below the prompt box, you'll see Suggested missions based on your institution and the time of year, like a deadline push, a campus visit push, or a missing form nudge. Click one and it fills the prompt box for you. Edit the text from there or use it as written.
Configuring the mission
After you click Create mission, your agent drafts the mission and a sample message. You'll land on the mission page, where the configuration is split into sections you can expand:
Instructions: what you want the message to say. You can also set Button text and a Button link to point recipients at a specific page.
Audience: the segment the mission reaches, with the audience breakdown.
Channels: email, SMS, or phone.
Goal: an optional target value used to measure how the mission performs.
Schedule: an End date, and Send limits for the maximum number of messages per constituent. Leave the end date empty and the mission runs until you stop it.
Previewing before you launch
The preview panel on the right shows what the message will look like to a real person in your segment.
Click Preview.
Use Select someone to pick a constituent from your audience.
Review the generated message.
Click Generate another email to see a different version.
If you change the configuration after generating a preview, the panel tells you the preview is out of date. Click Update preview to regenerate it.
💡 Previews are generated per person, so the same mission produces different messages for different constituents. Check two or three before launching.
Launching
Click Launch. You'll see a confirmation showing exactly how many constituents the mission will reach.
Click Launch mission to start sending.
Click Not yet to go back and make changes.
You can also click Save as draft at any point and come back to it later.
After launch
Open any live mission to see three tabs:
Insights: a default report showing the mission's performance against its goal, including delivery rates, engagement metrics, and constituent response data. This report updates automatically as the mission sends.
Activity: a per-constituent list showing the last action taken, the mission status for that person, and when it happened. Statuses include values like Sent max, Unreachable, and No valid contact info.
Configuration: the settings the mission is running on. Click Edit to change them.
Use Pause in the top right to stop a live mission. Paused missions can be resumed from the Paused tab.
